Where chuys Began

In 1982, a small, quirky restaurant opened its doors at 2706 Westheimer Road in Houston, Texas. With mismatched furniture, hand-painted murals, and recipes straight from the heart of Mexico, Chuys was born — and Houston fell in love instantly.

What started as a single neighborhood spot quickly became a cultural landmark. Our founders believed that great Tex-Mex food wasn't just a meal — it was an experience. From our legendary green chile sauce to our hand-rolled tortillas made fresh daily, every dish at chuys tells a story of passion, tradition, and community.

The Very Beginning

Chuys opens its first location at 2706 Westheimer Rd in Houston with just 12 tables, a hand-painted menu board, and a dream to bring authentic Tex-Mex to the neighborhood.

1988
The Margarita Legend Is Born

We introduce our legendary house margarita recipe — fresh lime juice, premium tequila, and a secret splash — and it becomes an instant Houston icon. The line out the door hasn't stopped since.

1995
Houston's Favorite Tex-Mex

Chuys wins its first "Best Tex-Mex in Houston" award from the Houston Press. The recognition confirms what our regulars already knew — there's nowhere quite like Chuys.

Expanding the Family

We launch our beloved catering service and private events program, bringing the Chuys experience to weddings, corporate gatherings, and backyard celebrations across greater Houston.
